FAQ’s

Returns.

As all my shades are made to order I am unable to accept returns on any orders if you change your mind. But, of cause, is the item is faulty I will more than happily replace it.

All of my products are handcrafted, meaning there are differences between each piece and I will never be able to truly replicate another shade.

This is the nature of hand-made and as such I feel this breathes character into each piece and is not considered a defect. You will own a unique piece of work.

Where stated the width of an item is fixed and based on the metalwork I use, the shade being fractionally bigger to take into account the fabric being crafted onto the frame. The height on shades will again generally be fixed, except in the case of the ‘Crushing On You’ range. These are a close approximation, but will vary dependent on how they form.

If you have any questions, please do get in contact with me ahead of placing an order. I would much rather talk honestly and confirm it in an email, than have a situation where you are less than delighted with something I have created for you. What is perfect for one person may not be so for their neighbour and I want you to love your shade for years to come.

If your parcel is damaged on delivery, please do not accept the package and contact me straight away. Alternatively please photograph the packaging and damaged goods and email the images over to me so that I can contact the courier and make a claim on your behalf. Each lampshade to its full value.

Payment

I can accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express

All of my shades are hand made to order in my Kent studio.

Shades  will be delivered within 6-8 weeks depending on how many you have ordered.  I will, of course, keep you updated as they are being built, but please bear in mind that some of my shades are built over a period of days and weeks. These are not machine built, sweatshop, thrown off my workbench as fast as I can. These are instead hours of tweaking, perfecting and gallons of strong black coffee to produce something you will cherish.

If you have a special delivery date request please do get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Wattage and Bulbs

I don’t supply bulbs, but will always put a wattage label on the frame. If you choose to remove the label please contact me if you need a replacement or cannot which wattage bulbs you can use. Generally though any shade up to a 20cm diameter can have a 40 watt bulb. Shades larger than this can take a 60 watt bulb. In a world of LED lighting, this will be the power it is using, not the equivalent light it is giving. As always, I would rather you email me if you have a question than live with something you are less than happy with. I always recommend a good quality branded build as they last longer than arguably cheaper, but more less well made bulbs.

Commissions and Bespoke orders.

If you’re interested in commissioning a product or want to find out more about how I work, I would love to hear from you.

If you are interested in commissioning  a shade please tick the product tab on the form.  From this I can  provide you with a quotation based on the information supplied. I would much rather though have a phone call with you to talk through what is and isn’t possible and make sure from the outset that I can meet your expectations. Getting it right first time is far easier for me if we can talk honestly. I have no wish to send you something I have spent hours working on, only for it not to be what you thought you were getting.

Once you are happy with all the details and we have discussed and confirmed any custom elements required, I will then issue an invoice with shipping costs.

A 50% deposit is required to secure your order and begin the process of me building a shade, with the remaining balance due two weeks prior to delivery.

Colour swatches

£10.00

My linen shades are made using stone washed linen and non-toxic dyes. I hand mix everything myself, following my own recipes to make sure that I have consistency from batch to batch. Colour swatches will be a block colour only.

Any gilding work is hand applied.

I am constantly sourcing new wools from Merino to British hand spun.

I hand spray my coloured frames.

Please contact me with your requirements and I will happily send out up to five samples. I will send an invoice and upon fulfilment will despatch your samples as soon as I can.
